Segment Ball Valves can be divided into two groups; Valves supplied with a Static seal or an Inflatable seal.
Static seals: The SBV with a static seal is the basic model. “Static” meaning, while opening the valve, the seal is continuously in contact with the moving ball shaped “Segment”. Like most static seal valves the wear of the seal is dependant on product properties. Static seals can be used for most powders, liquids and gasses under vacuum or pressure. -Read more-
Inflatable seals: Are used when excessive wear of the static seal is an issue or is expected. Especially for abrasive products or products that tend to create a crust on the segment like in a drying process for example. To have an absolute pressure and vacuum tight valve in these difficult conditions, the inflatable seal is the solution. Moreover the seal is retractable and therefore not in contact with the moving segment of the valve. -Read more-
